One Week After...

It's been one week since my Arthroscopic Shoulder Surgery...

I've started Physical Therapy- OUCH! The pain during and after physical therapy was to be expected, so I took my meds beforehand. Ibuprofin an hour, and Vicodin a half hour before my session. I was in EXTREME pain for the rest of the day!

I was in such pain during the night that I dreamt I was in pain, and that I was CURSING the pain! Of course, even in my sleep the "teacher" in me comes out- I told myself to change my choice of vocabulary. That there were many other words to use with the same meaning instead of using the everyday, common "cursing" words I was using at the moment. I then woke up and took some Ibuprofin...

I am expected to go back to work on September 2nd... Hopefully, I'll be physically able to. In order for me to return to work I want to be able to do the following:
1. Not wake up during the night because I can't tolerate the pain.
2. Not take Vicodin for pain... maybe only at night and if needed. I need to be able to be in control of my reflexes while driving to and from work.
3. Be able to pull my arm up and through my "tops". At the moment I ONLY wear buttoned pj's. Unfortunately, I don't have any "buttoned" blouses... Note- need to shop once this episode is over. One must always be prepared!

I am happy your procedure went well, but I am sorry you are in so much pain.

When I am in pain, I try to "converse" with my body. Listen to what it has to say. Sometimes just by "listening" the pain lightens up a little. I know that sounds a little "newagy" but it has worked for me.

Hope you feel better soon. Cuidate!

Huy!!! I'm sorry to hear all that... I hope you get better and can actually get out of the PJs :)

I didn't have a big accident, I just fell down on my butt on the first day of classes. I'm ok, just a couple of bruises :P

Take care!

Soccoro! Nice BLOG...lots of Spanish! Wish I could read it...should I choose a user? Sara has one of these, I could but I already have so many contacts to keep up with!

Nice job, hope you're ready Sept. 2, although, have had this hurt, and it is bad. Let it cure, let it rest, let you happen together. IT is in charge right now!!
