We made it!

The validation team gave their "oral" report to our administrators late in the day yesterday. They unanimously voted that we should receive the California Distinguished School Award for the 2006 school year.

They thought our school was, in their own words, "Awesome!" The team was very impressed with our teaching (specifically our differentiated instruction), our school site, our parents, our classified staff, our technology, our district and, of course, our teachers.

This is not, however, the final report. The team will submit their "written" report to the County and State, and the County Superintendent will then be contacting our Administration. Once the above takes place, the public will then be informed about our award.

"Representatives" (staff and parents) from our school will accompany our Principal and District Superintendent to the Award Ceremony held in Los Angeles where they will receive our "plaque" and "flag".

I am very proud to be a part of this wonderful staff, and to have such a supportive community... together we have made a difference in the lives of the children that we teach.

We are building a new middle school in our town. Our current school has a little over a 1,000 students.

I am on a team which is trying to rethink how we do our work.

I would be interested in anythng you might have to share.

I am charged with looking at how we teach technology, but I am eager to learn about any "Best Practices"

Good news! As Head of Teaching and Learning Support in a school in London I especially like the bit about differentiated teaching!
