My husband and I went and test drove the NEW Rav4 by Toyota. After "test" driving, my husband, immediately asked me if I wanted to purchase it. My answer was NO! I was actually disappointed by the Rav4. I was hoping its seats would have better lumbar support, unfrtunately, they don't.
On the way home, my husband signaled out (again!) the motorcycle he would love to have. My response was that he write out a letter to God requesting his motorcycle, and that if it's meant to be, then God would allow "fate" take place. He looked at me in disbelief.
I then reminded my husband of how we met (how, when and where), and that I, too, had written to God requesting that if I were to marry, I would like my husband to have certain "specifications". My husband then smiled and asked, "Like my cooking expertiese?" My response was, "Ooops, I forgot to request that my future husband be a great cook".
Si, Dios si hace "milagros"! Hay que tener cuidado con lo que uno le pide a Dios...

And the truth is...
Over the past few months my husband has been insisting that I get a new car. His recommendation has been that I get a new car, he takes my Camry '94, and we either sell or trade in his '00 Tacoma TRD -4 door...and that way everyone is happy. I have a new car, he saves on gas, and he is still able to haul his bicycle and other cycling "stuff" in the Camry.
Now let me tell you, there is nothing wrong with my '94 Camry...it has a few dings (a major one which my husband did) and it is missing the radio antenna (my garage door and me- twice!), but I still runs very well.
Do I want a new car? Yes, I would love to have a new car, but who wouldn't want a new car? Do I want to make payments on a new car? NO! Do I need a new car? NO!
If, however, I were to get a new car- I would get a "hybrid". We've test rode a Civic, and Accord Hybrids- both by Honda. I loved the Accord! But I also know that the Toyota Camry Hybrid comes out this year...and I really love my Camry.
Anyway, the truth finally came out...my husband finally told me the reason why he's been insisting I get a new car. If I get a new car, he can then justify the fact the purchase of his new motorcycle! Yes, he wants a motorcycle!! He knows exactly which motorcycle he wants, and he even has our leather "motorcycle" outfits selected! Ha!
By the way, my answer is NO to the purchase of the motorcycle, and to the leather motorcycle outfits! NO! NO! NO!
My husband drives too fast and too aggressive- sorry, NO MOTORCYCLE! Besides, he has MANY road bikes from which to choose from for a ride. He does NOT need another bike!

Weekend!
First and foremost, I want to thank you for your prayers, good thoughts and words of encouragement. These past two weeks have been difficult, but at the same time they've been joyful- we've been celebrating both Evelyn's and Shannon's life, as well as our own personal blessings.
As for this weekend...my husband is attending some cycling event out in Los Angeles. Last year he said that this "World Cycling Event" was the first ever to be out in California, and how could he not attend since who knew where it would take place next year! Ha! This year, the "World Cycling Event" is again in Los Angeles!! And yes, he's having a wonderful time among bicycles and other cyclists.
So what will I be doing this weekend? I will be spending my time with my mother and sister...shopping.
Other News
My brother-in-law Jackhampster will be a particpant in the AIDS Life Cycle (June 4 -10) from San Francisco to Los Angeles, CA. Please check his Aids LifeCycle Homepage and if you can donate, please do so. Thank you!

Where to begin...
Last week was very busy and emotionally draining.
I was kept busy by school stuff- testing, grading, sending out deficincie letters, and office referals due to inappropriate class behavior.
Oh, and I now have my annual medical exams lined up, plus a new GYN because my previous GYN decided it was time to retire.
Among all my appointments scheduled, I also started Physical Therapy to help my lower back.
It seems that since Thanksgiving '05 there's been some sort of "black cloud" lingering over our school/work site. Thils "black cloud" affecting some of my collegues and their loved ones, therefore, affecting us all at work.
First Patty- 3rd gr. teacher, young (42 years old), in good health, athletic, runner...gets a stroke while on a cruise! Thankfully, she is now so much better, but still not able to return to work.
Then Miel- Kinder teacher...her cousin committed suicide.
Following Kim- 5th gr. teacher...father-in-law passsed away.
Next Rosie- Speech Therapist...her husband was being treated for Acid Reflux, unfortunately, it turns out he instead had a rare form of cancer and passed away last week. Funeral services are this week.
Lastly, Jerri- Kinder teacher...her mother also just passed away last week. Funeral services were this morning.
In between the above mentioned- there were other teachers who either they, or loved ones were being seen for other medical related maladies as well.
Presently, we are all in "pain"...grieving and praying together.
At school/work, we all hope that this "black cloud" goes away, and that good things, positive things start blooming- soon!
Thourgh all this, Marguerite and Carole, our principal and vice principal have been very supportive. They have both achieved that our school environment become cohesive and intimate. We are very fortunate that they are with us.

Martha

This is a picture of my younger sister... She looks older only because she doesn't bellieve in dyeing her hair. And if I had her hair, I wouldn't either! I lover her "salt and pepper" look!
To celebrate my sister's birthday (today), we'll be going out to dinner and having Indian cuisine...Mmmm! It'll be just her and I though- my mom's diet is too restrictive (Kidney Failure), my husband is afraid of trying different ethnic foods, and my brother (and his family)- well...we hardly see him and even less of his family.
Lately, my sister and I have become very good friends... she'll call sometimes just to "talk", or we'll go shopping, go to the theater or to the movies, etc. I treasure our newfound friendship.

Rosca de Reyes
Rosca de Reyes! Mmm... This morning I went to the Mexican Bakery and placed my order for this delicious sweet bread which is eaten on January 6th.Now all I need to do is get my shoes ready for the Wise Men's treats for me. OK, so the treats and gifts are for children, but just in case- I'll get my shoes ready.
Remember, be careful when eating the Rosca de Reyes, there is a little plastic baby hidden in there- somewhere! Tradition is that if you get the little doll- you are hosting the party on February 2nd (Dia de la Candelaria)!

Civic Duty
I have fulfilled my civic duty for the year...I've been excused from Jury Duty!
My husband has yet to be summoned for Jury Duty, but I've been "fortunate" to be summoned 3 times a year, every year since I've been married!! It seems the computer can't make out my last name-technology! Alright, not only computers, but many people (as well) don't know which is my last name...
The solution to this problem is simple- either delete my husband's last name from mine, or save each and every summons I receive and let them know that my civic duty for the year has been fullfilled.
