The notes on Fra Mauro's map alluding to the voyage of the junk refer to 'the Isles of Men and Women', a peculiar name also used by da Conti in the account related to the papal secretary Poggio Bracciolini.

I enjoyed reading the book tags...it gave little glimpses of what the book is about. There were a few times that I wanted more "text"...I guess I should go out and get the book.
